Harry Williams ‘29 Wins History and Geography Bees

S.A.
Harry Williams ‘29 represented St. Luke’s at the International Academic Competitions (IAC) regional finals in Bethel, Connecticut, where he placed first in both the geography and history bees for his age group. These wins automatically qualify Harry for the national competition in Arlington, Virginia in June and the international competitions in July 2023 and 2024. The International History Bee will be held in Rome, Italy. The International Geography Bee’s location has not been released yet.

Operating in more than 50 countries, the IAC organizes enriching and exciting team and individual competitions in history, geography, science, the humanities, and other subjects for primary and secondary students of all ages.

Robert Salandra — fifth grade history teacher, Quiz Bowl coach, and Harry’s sponsor for the competition — shared, “I couldn’t be more proud of Harry for achieving this high level of success in the inaugural year of St. Luke’s Middle School Quiz Bowl team. Harry’s vast knowledge of different topics and eagerness to improve continue to impress me. I’m thrilled he had this opportunity to demonstrate his strengths in a competitive format.”

Congratulations, Harry, and good luck at Nationals!
